Overview

The library is a common learning area for both Caritas Business College and Caritas Technical Secondary School. It consists of over 23,000 print and non-print materials including reference and audio-visual materials. In addition, the library has is installed with several computers strictly for research and provides spacious open- access study and research facilities for the comfort of the students.

Vision

Caritas Business College’s library aims to provide its user a comprehensive library collection and state of the art facilities and services that are responsive to the growing needs of the school community.

Library Services

General Collection - This is the library’s main collection that holds books and materials ranging from all disciplines and subjects. This collection is for borrowing. The Collection is open-shelf access. The students are ALLOWED to pick and browse a book before presenting it to the librarian for proper charging

Fiction Collection - This is made up of novels and books for pleasure readings, which is open for reading and borrowing.

Periodicals - This includes materials such as journals, newspapers, magazines, posters and current reports. Materials from this collection can be loaned upon request with the librarian for use in the library only.

Reference Collection - This covers encyclopedia, handbooks, special reports and other set aside as reference materials for use in the library only.

Reserve Collection - This is specially reserved by the academic and technical staff for their specific use and their students in the library only. Add your pricing strategy. Be sure to include important details like value, length of service, and why it’s unique.

Misson

The Library’s mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and learning needs of the school community.

Library Rules and Regulations

1.   Silence should be observed at all times.

2.   No eating and drinking in the library.

3.   Do not cut or tear any pages of any reading materials and books.

4.   Handle books with care. Do not write on any pages.

5.   Make sure table is clean, no rubbish must be left. Put back the chairs properly.

6.   No bags allowed in the collection area. Only exercise book and pens are allowed.

7.   No sitting and lying down on the floor.

8.   Students are allowed to borrow 1 Fiction (FIC) and 1 Non Fiction (NF) for one week. Books unreturned after one week are charged .50t

for one day. Bibles, Magazines and Reference Books are for room use only.

9.   Borrowing of books and photocopying is allowed during Morning break, Lunch break and after HRC.

10.Students should fall in line when borrowing and photocopying.

11. Students can go to the library during class time if they have a note from the subject teacher.

12. All books must be placed in the proper shelf after using.

13. The book scanning machine has been installed and operating, all books must be  log in the circulation table.

14. Approach the librarian politely if you need query or help.

Fiction books are organised by the author’s last name alphabetically.

Non-Fiction books are organised by Dewey’s Decimal system.
